"I have been aiming for the general classification in the stage races, so to start my 2014 season like this is a good sign. It's going to be a good spring coming not just for me, but the whole team. I'm really happy about it."

Portuguese cyclist Rui Costa also had a few words on finishing third.

“I could have given the Portuguese something to celebrate, but I didn’t.” Still, Costa admitted he was “very happy” with his and his team’s performance.
